A dispatch dashboard and driver app for a European freight company

Halyard runs 400 trucks across Europe. We redesigned their dispatch dashboard and driver app, and built one design system for both.

The challenge

The challenge

Dispatchers were working across three tools at once: an old dashboard, a shared spreadsheet and a group chat with drivers. Late deliveries were often found only when a customer called.

Reporting an arrival in the driver app took six taps, so most drivers skipped it.

Our approach

We started with a week of research in two depots to see how dispatch really works. The new dashboard shows late and at-risk trucks first, with the driver one tap away.

The driver app now has one large button per stop. We tested it with drivers every week for six weeks before launch.

Pane took the time to understand how our team really works. The dashboard they designed is now the first thing we open every morning.
